Bloom

2024-2027

Bloom is a public art collaboration based in Austin Texas. Fathers and their children will gather monthly to hand-embroider colorful flowers on black and white gun targets printed on felt totaling the number of children aged 17 and under who have been killed by guns in the US since 2010. The final artwork will be sewn together into one large artwork and displayed first outside the Austin Texas State Capitol building and second outside the US Capitol Building in Washington D.C. At each monthly gathering an expert guest will be invited to host a group discussion on a topic related to male identity which will be published as the podcast "Bloom: Beyond male violence."

Americans of the Decadence is a contemporary mixed media (paint, marker & hand-embroidery) interpretation of the painting The Romans of the Decadence (French: Les Romains de la Décadence, Musée d'Orsay, Paris) made to scale (15 feet 6 inches / 475.48 cm x 25 feet 4 inches / 775 cm). The original painting was made by the French artist Thomas Couture, first exhibited at the Paris Salon of 1847, a year before the 1848 Revolution which toppled the July Monarchy.
