Saturday Embroidery Circle
A public Saturday embroidery circle open to all
Every Saturday of 2026 I am inviting people to help me embroider the names of children killed by guns in the US. We embroider the names on white baseball caps. I gather the names of the children killed at the end of each Friday and then on Saturday I sit in public spaces primarily in NYC but also throughout the US embroidering hats and inviting people to join me (no skills required, I will show you how).
At the end of the year the hats will be worn by individuals and form a large human public traveling installation titled "While We Thought & While We Prayed" depicting all of the children lost to gun violence in a typical year in the US.
All data on names of children 17 and under killed by guns is gathered from the Gun Violence Archive weekly.
