Born from a deeply respectful collaboration with the FNLS (Frente Nacional de Lucha por el Socialismo) in Mexico and sociologist Jasmin Hirstov (read more here about this collaboration), this series transforms public images of disappeared Indigenous FNLS community members into a powerful monument of grief. Through a deliberate fusion of AI imaging and hand-embroidery, six traditionally silent portraits are transfigured into active, piercing screams. This work gives the disappeared a chance to return and cry out against a world that has long ignored their brutalization. It is an intentional invocation of horror, shame, and concern asking us in the global north to finally look our own complicity in the eye.
